Delivering care in rural towns

Governments around the world have struggled to ensure equitable access to primary care and hospital services in rural and remote communities due to a global shortage of medical workforce.
RARMS pioneered the implementation of a model of integrated care for rural and remote health and hospital services that has seen more than 25,000 Australians received continuous access to primary care and hospital services for 20 years.
RARMS recruits, trains and deploys doctors, nurses and health staff into struggling rural, remote and Indigenous communities ensuring Indigenous, aged and other residents have ongoing access to skills medical care.
The RARMS model has delievred annual savings off more than $100 million to government through improved health outcomes, reductions in avoidable hospitalisations, reduced preventable illness and avoided transportation to large referral centres.
